Start your sourdough journey with my organic dehydrated starter that I use every week in my home microbakery! Dehydrated may make it sound more complicated, but trust me it's easy to bring back to life and will have you baking in no time. My sourdough starter was first made around holidays in December 2022.
How to Feed & Bring Dehydrated Sourdough Starter Back to Life
-
Day 1: Add all starter plus 50g filtered water to a jar. Let rehydrate for at least 10 minutes. Then, add 50g flour and thoroughly mix with a rubber/wooden spatula. Let sit until next day.
- Jars - anything with a loose lid will work! Mason jars, Weck jars, old reused food jars. Just cover with plastic wrap, a loose fitting lid, or a cloth with a rubber band.
- Flours - any flour will do, all purpose, bread, rye, whole wheat, etc.
- Day 2: Add 100g flour and 100g filtered water to the same mixture. Mix thoroughly and let sit again until the next day.
-
Day 3: Put 50g of the starter into a new jar and feed 50g flour and 50g water. Let sit another day, and continue doing this until it is doubling/tripling in size.
What to do with the sourdough discard?
