Make Bread Sour Again™
Sourdough Bread Details
*All baked goods made by Evergrain Artisan Sourdough (me!) are made in a cottage food operation that is not subject to Florida's food safety regulation.
Our lovingly made sourdough bread is made with all organic wheat flour, pink himalayan crystal salt or sea salt, and filtered water. (Just 3 ingredients!) Our water is now filtered to remove fluoride, chlorine, lead, arsenic, and other contaminants. Our wheat flour is a blend of bread, durum, rye, and spelt flours. Read more about my sourdough here.
Please note, Evergrain microbakery products are highly recommended to ship 2nd day air to ensure freshness and will ship on the next available bake day(typically Tuesdays of every week). *Some states will have the option to choose ground shipping, but choosing this is at your own risk!
How to Store or Reheat/Recrisp Sourdough
As soon as it arrives, freeze any extra loaves in a ziplock airtight bag either by freezing them whole or freezing slices. For the loaf that gets left out, store cut side facing down on a cutting board and cover (or don't) with a kitchen towel. The crust acts as a natural moisture barrier keeping the interior of the bread soft. If any gets dried out/hard, spray or rinse with water and reheat in the toaster or oven (works like a charm!). Or use the slightly dry pieces to make french toast!
How to Recrisp Sourdough
When sourdough bread first comes out of the oven it is super crispy but softens as it cools. To recrisp and entire loaf, spray the whole loaf generously with water and put in the oven at 350 F for 10-15ish minutes.
How to Freeze and Reheat Sourdough
You can freeze slices or the entire loaf. My sourdough freezes extremely well. To reheat slices, put them in the toaster or oven for a few minutes until desired crispiness. Optional: spritz with a bit of water first. To reheat an entire loaf, either let thaw completely and then reheat at 350 F for 10-15 mins to recrisp, OR (our preferred method) rinse the entire frozen loaf under water and put in the oven at 350 F for 30-40 mins until cooked all the way through.
Never let any ends go to waste! We often have ends of loaves that sit on the counter for a week and dry up. We save them in the freezer and use later for breadcrumbs or stuffing.
