Ahhhh, mulled wine, the quintessential fall/winter drink. Perfect on a chilly day by the fire, or out ice skating. This is everything you could want in a fall mocktail. I do miss our wood burning fireplace in New Jersey, so we'll just have to enjoy this mulled wine recipe on a chilly Florida night (in the 60s) with a nighttime bonfire.
Mulled Wine Ingredients
Makes 3 servings (5oz each), use a full bottle of wine and double the recipe for 6 servings
- 1/2 bottle non alcoholic red wine/cabernet (we used ALLAY Functional Non-alcoholic Cabernet Sauvignon)
- 2 oz Wilfred's Non-alcoholic Bittersweet Aperitif to add in some bitter orange flavor
- a few orange slices
- 4 whole cloves
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 star anise
- 1 tbs maple syrup or to taste
How to Make Mulled Wine
Add everything to a pot, stir it up, heat on medium high until it starts to simmer, then reduce heat to low and cover for at least 15 minutes. (We did 20! It just depends on how much you want the flavors to come through.) Strain
Note
We opted for less on the sweet side so our mulled wine was pretty dry. If you like it sweeter, add more maple syrup. Make sure you're using a good quality REAL maple syrup!
